New York, NY - Pittsburgh, PA
Board our private varnish in New York's Penn Station mid morning for a day's travel to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Our cars travel on the rear of Amtrak's Pennsylvanian train south out of New York to Philadelphia where the train changes to an eastbound direction across Pennsylvania to Pittsburgh. The trip reaches it's most scenic as we pass through bucolic Lancaster County, home of the Pennsylvania Dutch and Amish farmers. After Lancaster is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania's State Capital. After leaving Harrisburg, we cross the Susquehanna River on Rockville Bridge, the world's longest stone arch railroad bridge.
Once on the west shore of the river, we'll roll along through rural Central Pennsylvania to Altoona, once home of the shops of the mighty Pennsylvania Railroad. Just west of Altoona, we'll begin our climb over the Allegheny Mountains and pass around world famous Horseshoe Curve. After cresting the mountains, we'll drift downhill though Johnstown, site of the Johnstown Flood and on to Pittsburgh, where we will arrive around 8 o'clock in the evening.
Pittsburgh will welcome you aglow with lights of her skyscrapers. Even though we have a later arrival, there's a lot to do in Pittsburgh at night. Bars, clubs and restaurants are aplenty in town and we drop you off in the heart of it all. Pittsburgh also has Lyft, Uber, and public transportation or we can arrange ground transportation for you where ever you would like to go either in vans or with rental cars which can be delivered directly to your hotel or the station.
Hotels near the station or sports venues are plentiful and range from lower cost properties to luxury hotels that can't be beat. We'll be happy to make you some recommendations.
During the day, there's so much to do in Pittsburgh! With small boutique shopping in the Strip District, world class museums and a zoo, beautiful parks and so much more, Pittsburgh won't leave you bored. Sports fans will also find so much to see at Heinz Field, PNC Park or PPG Arena, which are homes to Pittsburgh's pro sports teams, The Steelers, Pirates, and Penguins.
There's a lot to see and do in Pittsburgh, but you'll also be happy to get home and we take you back to New York in the same comfort and safety you arrived in. We depart Pittsburgh early in the morning and get you back to NYC around 5 pm.
When you book one of these trips with us, we handle it all. You just book and enjoy a stress-free unique travel experience.
