The American Steam Railroad Preservation Association and Luxury Rail Travel are proud to present:
A First Class, 4 Day Rail Trip from New York City to Montreal
July 27th - July 30th, 2017
Ride along with The American Steam Railroad Preservation Association and Luxury Rail Travel from New York's Penn Station along the Hudson River and Lake Champlain to the city of Montreal, Canada. Once in Montreal, you'll spend 3 nights and 2 days at the Sofitel Golden Mile hotel in the center of Old Town Montreal. Then re-board our vintage 1950s railcars to return to New York.
About the Trip
You'll board the private cars "Alexander Hamilton" and "Passiac River" in New York's Penn Station on Thursday July 27th and we'll travel along behind Amtrak's "Adirondack" service to Montreal. As we leave New York, we'll travel up the Hudson River first out of the hustle and bustle of the Bronx and Rockland County while eating a hot cooked breakfast and into the more laid back Hudson Valley through towns like Poughkeepsie and Rhinecliff and on to Albany, the state capital.
From Albany, we'll roll through some of the most scenic parts of New York State, The Adirondack Mountains and along the shores of Lake Champlain. Dinner will be served hot and fresh as we roll along the beautiful upstate New York countryside. At Rouses Point, NY, we'll stop for Canadian Border Inspection and then onto Montreal, 50 miles inside Canada.
Along the way, you'll be treated to meals served onboard the diner-lounge "Passiac River" and drinks and light snacks will be available all day both in the "Passiac River" and also from the kitchen of the "Alexander Hamilton".
When we arrive in Montreal, you'll be taken to the Sofitel to check in to your room for 3 nights and 2 days of fun and exploration in Quebec's largest city and the second largest French speaking city in the world after Paris. There is a Metro stop adjacent to the hotel to help you get around, and taxis and Uber are plentiful all around the city. Another popular option is to take a day bus trip to Quebec City and see what's billed as "A little part of Europe in Canada".
On Sunday July 30th, we'll check out of the hotel and return to Canadian National station to head back to New York along the same scenic route we took on the way up with a continental breakfast, lunch and dinner provided.

Things to Do
There's so much to do in Montreal! If shopping is your thing, check out Centre Eaton or Underground City for a mix of stores, many of which aren't available in the United States. Want to sample a taste of France without the long flight? Montreal is chock full of exciting and mouth-watering choices from 5 star restaurants down to delicious street food. Also check out Fou D'Ici, Montreal's Urban food market. Maybe take a stroll through Old Towne Montreal and check out the beginning of the town and Urban Beach, a favourite hang out of the locals.
Whats in a Name?
How did we come up with the name "The Laurentian? The "Laurentian" was a named passenger train operated by the Delaware and Hudson Railway between New York City and Montreal, providing same-day service. The train used the D&H's famed route along Lake Champlain north of Albany, New York. The Laurentian, along with its overnight companion the Montreal Limited, was the flagship of the D&H from its inauguration in 1923 until its discontinuance on the formation of Amtrak in 1971. Since 1974 Amtrak has operated the Adirondack over the same route. The Adirondack will be the train pulling our cars along the scenic route.
